A swinging alto-saxophonist with a beautiful tone, Mike Dubaniewicz is thus far best known for his playing with the late Maynard Ferguson's Big Bop Nouveau Band. "Drive Time" is his highly enjoyable debut recording as a leader and shows off his improvising skills in several styles with the foundation being straightahead jazz.

Mike Dubaniewicz, who has performed with Bobby Shew, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Slide Hampton and Billy Childs, knew recently that it was time to record something of his own. The result, Drive Time, is one of the finest recording debuts in some time and a perfect outlet for his musical abilities, a true delight for fans of modern straightahead jazz.
